The story of us

This really should have been my first post. The story of How Dawn and Jeremy came to be Dawn and Jeremy!

It all started back in June of 1998. We used to chat in a place called WBS, had a bunch of different chat rooms for whatever your interest was. the general chat was called the Hot Tub. I happened to be in there under a pseudonym, hiding from a freak stalker type dude. I was chatting with my friends and Jeremy sent me a private message asking if I'd like to chat. Had to test him out, make sure he wasn't the freak. He seemed good, so we chatted. After about a week or so of meeting on WBS we decided to chat on ICQ. I happened to have a boyfriend who lived in Las Vegas (does he still live here, I have no clue), Jeremy had recently been heartbroken by his girlfriend. We chatted about life, school, work, the summer. I invited him to Reno (I lived in Fallon) to go to Hot August Nights with me and my friends. I was trying to set him up with a friend of mine! He seemed like a good guy, so I was trying to help them both out*L* Silly me!
Anyways, he was going out of town that week to his grandfathers house in Texas. I gave him my address so he could send me a post card from Texas. Yes, I am weird and like getting letters and postcards from everywhere. When he got home from Texas he told me he decided to join the Army. Huh? :O He was a teacher! But, he decided he needed something different. He left for Basic Training in Sept. We had progressed to talking on the phone before he left. Big step! When he left I was sad, he had become my best on line friend. We chatted every night, and then he was gone, I had no one to talk to! I would get letters from time to time, and every few weeks a phone call. I had ended my relationship with the Las Vegas bum for reasons I don't wanna post here. I was better off without him anyways. I still worked full time, went to school full time and just had fun with my friends and family.
On Sat, Dec 5th (my birthday) Jeremy called! I was excited because it had been a few weeks since I'd heard from him! I can remember how anxious I used to be, hurrying to get home to see if a letter was waiting for me! Anyways, back to the phone call...We chatted for a few minutes (He only got 10 minutes on the phone every Sat) and then he asked if he could come see me after Christmas! :O I was so happy! Of course I said yes! We were putting up the tree that day, and I told my mom that I was gonna marry him. She laughed and said I was crazy...hehehe...I can remember the first letter I received after that phone call. He talked about the regular stuff, but then he signed it Forever Yours, Jeremy. I can't tell you if that was the moment I fell in love with him, but it warmed my heart to know someone actually cared about ME.
Ok, onto the story...Jeremy flew home for 2 weeks just before Christmas. He called me the night he got home. We were talking and he threw in an "I Love You" :O I actually stopped talking*L* he thought he scared me off, haha! He was coming to see me on Dec 27th. I was sooo anxious! My parents said he could stay at our house (Yes, I still lived at home) so I got my room ready for him (I got stuck on the couch). My SIL drove with me to the airport and we waited around. I had seen one picture of him, taken before he joined the Army. In the picture he had hair, a goatee and was chubby. His plane landed and I was standing by the gate (totally old school, going to the gate!) I was looking for the guy I saw the picture of. My SIL saw him and pointed him out, but I had no idea who she was pointing at*LOL* He came and stood RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and I still did not "see" him*L* I did not recognize him until he spoke to me. he looked completely different! He was bald, no facial hair and skinny! And OMG was he tall! (he is 11 inches taller then me*L*) I swear I hurt my neck looking at him, but oh how nice it was to be wrapped in his arms!
After we left the airport we went to Applebees for lunch (got free lunches too, haha!) then went home. He was nervous meeting my parents, but he did good. He even survived Crazy Aunt Karen! We just hung out getting to know each other. Fallon is not a big place, so there isn't much to do. We watched movies, hung out at the park, normal small town stuff. I was bummed when he had to leave. He was only there for 2 short days! He had to go home so he could go back to Ft Jackson. He called me almost every Sat, wrote me letters and poems, and loved me from afar.
He went on to Ft Huachuca the end of Jan, and we made plans for me to visit Valentines weekend. I was so scared because I was going to be meeting his parents! OMG I didn't know what to do! I flew in on a Friday night and got to be with him till he had to go at 10pm. He came back at 7 when he was able to. I got ready and we had breakfast before his parents showed up. It didn't go nearly as bad as I thought, although I did break their car :O I rolled down the window, and it would not roll back up! They had to drive the 6 hours home that way too*L* I had to leave Sunday afternoon:( I hated leaving but couldn't stay...ahh, such is the life of the military! I flew down again for a weekend in March, then again for a weekend in May. His parents were there again in May, as were 2 of his sisters!
Now, from the time we met we joked about running off together and getting married. It was always a joke, KWIM? After we started as a couple we talked more seriously about it, but it was always after,,after he graduated, after I graduated. Always after. I flew to Az May 7th. He was impatiently waiting for me. (The airport was about an hour and a half away) There was a problem with my transportation, so I was delayed a few hours. I thought he was gonna flip when he finally saw me*LOL* He even had his mom with him to keep him calm. Anyways, I got settled and we only got to see each other for about 30 minutes before he had to leave :( I gave him my key and he showed up at 530! Yeah, my happy butt was not getting out of bed yet. He had his mom bring a picnic basket, and he stocked it with breakfast stuff. He had plans of going on a picnic, but he failed to realize that I am not a morning person! He finally relented and we had breakfast in bed. He was acting really weird, digging in the basket. I thought there was more food, but he pulled out a ring! He got down on his knee and proposed to me! All I was thinking was Dangit, we should have gone on the picnic, how romantic would that have been!?*LOL* Of course I squealed and said YES! I was so excited and happy! Of course I had to call my mom right away! She was shocked*L* His parents already knew, his mom is the one who picked up the ring for him! Buncha cheaters:P Anyways, I got ready and his parents came and picked us up. We met up with his sisters at a restaurant for lunch, then Jeremy, his parents and I went out to the flight line for a concert! We got to see Alabama, Martina McBride and Jeff Foxworthy! We had so much fun! Sadly though, I had to leave the next day :( I always hated leaving! But, at least I had something fun to look forward to, planning a wedding...
Soo, the month dragged on and he was told he was being sent to Maryland for school. What?! This messed up my plans! We had to push back the wedding a few months. Ok. We wanted to be married before he was sent to his first duty station. So, we picked Oct 2! I actually let his mom plan most of my wedding. Was rather nice too! I didn't stress at all :) I did get to fly to Maryland for July 4th weekend. That was an "adventure" I told him I was not repeating*L* He was so afraid I wasn't go to marry him after that weekend! Jeremy finally graduated the end of Sept, and the next day he flew home. I flew to him with my wedding dress in hand the following day! Everything was set, and we had a glorious week before the wedding! Never had I got to spend so much time with him, knowing neither of us had to leave the other behind again! of course the week was full of wedding stuff, but was still the best week ever! On Sat, Oct 2, 1999 we said I do. We weren't able to have a honey moon, but we did get to have a few nights in a nice hotel courtesy of his uncle! We like to joke that our honey moon was spent car shopping with his mom*L* Neither of us had a car, and we wanted one before we moved. We even had our first official date. yes, AFTER we were married! Ever time we went out before was always with his Army buddies. This time is was just me and him, and I kicked his butt at mini golf! After 3 weeks of wedded bliss we were sent to BFE Kansas...that is where the real tale begins...
